# Get started

There are two ways to run cronpad. Both run the same scheduling engine; the differences are who operates it and which safety limits apply.

| | cronpad Cloud | Self-hosted |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Sign in with Google or GitHub | One container (or binary) and a data volume |
| Cost | Free, with [generous limits](../platform/limits.md) | Free, unlimited |
| Sinks | Webhooks | Webhooks and shell commands |
| Webhooks to private networks (`10.x`, `localhost`) | Blocked | Allowed |
| Who runs upgrades, backups, monitoring | Us | You |

- [Self-host cronpad](self-hosted.md)

Not sure? Start on Cloud. Jobs are plain JSON, so you can export them and create them on a self-hosted instance later with the [API](../api/jobs.md).
